PET sheet production process

The production of PET sheets is mainly divided into the following steps:

Polymerization: terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol are polymerized under high temperature and high pressure to generate PET resin.

Melt extrusion: PET resin is heated and melted, and extruded through an extruder.

Cooling and shaping: The extruded PET sheet is quickly cooled to shape it.

Surface treatment: In order to improve the printing performance of PET sheets, corona treatment or adhesive coating is usually performed on the surface.

How to achieve the printability of PET sheets

Surface treatment:
Corona treatment: The surface of the PET sheet is treated with a high voltage electric field to generate tiny holes and polar groups, increase the surface energy, and improve the adhesion of the ink.
Flame treatment: The surface of the PET sheet is treated with a flame to increase the surface roughness and improve the printability.
Plasma treatment: Use plasma to treat the surface of PET sheets to change the surface chemical properties and improve printability.

Ink selection:
Choose inks that match PET sheets, such as UV curing inks, water-based inks, etc.
Consider the ink’s adhesion, drying speed, wear resistance and other properties.

Printing process:
Flexographic printing: Suitable for large-area, simple-pattern printing.
Gravure printing: Suitable for high-precision, high-quality printing.
