conductive PET sheet roll

Both internal conductive PET sheet and surface coated conductive PET sheet are two ways to specially treat PET sheet for the purpose of conductivity.

Internal conductive PET sheet refers to a conductive material prepared by melt blending by directly adding conductive fillers to PET resin. This conductive method makes the conductive performance more stable and is not easily reduced by surface wear or contamination.

Comparison of two conductive PET sheets

Internal conductive PET sheet has obvious advantages over surface coated conductive PET sheet in many aspects, as follows:

● More durable conductivity
Internal conductive PET sheet is a material with conductive components such as carbon black, metal powder or conductive polymer evenly distributed inside the material. This structure allows conductivity to run throughout the material, rather than just on the surface. Therefore, even if the surface is worn, scratched or otherwise physically damaged by the outside world, the conductivity of the internal conductive sheet can still be maintained. This durability is better than surface coated conductive PET sheet, because the conductivity of coated conductive materials may drop significantly when the surface is damaged.

● Higher resistance to wear and tear
Because the conductivity is inherent in the material structure, the conductive PET sheet is less susceptible to external factors, especially friction and mechanical pressure, and the conductivity is not easily weakened. In contrast, the conductive coating of the surface-coated conductive PET sheet may wear over time due to friction or chemical corrosion, thereby reducing the conductivity.

● More stable conductivity
The conductivity of the conductive PET sheet is more stable because the conductive component is part of the material itself and will not change like the coating due to environmental conditions (such as temperature, humidity or chemicals in the air). The conductivity of the surface-coated conductive PET sheet is easily affected by the external environment, and the coating may fall off or age over time, resulting in conductivity fluctuations.

● More uniform conductivity distribution
The conductive components of the conductive PET sheet are evenly distributed throughout the material, so it performs better in terms of conductivity consistency. The conductivity of the surface coating is often limited by the thickness and uniformity of the coating. If the coating is uneven or has local defects, the conductivity may be unstable.

● More environmentally friendly
During the production process, the conductive PET sheet does not require additional coating treatment, which reduces the need to use chemical solvents or other potentially harmful materials. However, the surface-coated PET sheet often requires the use of special coating materials and chemical treatment, which may have a certain impact on the environment. In addition, the conductive sheet is more recyclable because it does not involve complex coating processes.

● More economical long-term use cost
Although the initial cost of the conductive PET sheet may be slightly higher than that of the surface-coated conductive sheet, its longer service life and lower maintenance requirements make it more economical in long-term use. The surface-coated conductive PET sheet may need to be replaced or maintained regularly, which increases the cost of use.

How to choose?

When the requirements for conductivity stability and wear resistance are high, it is recommended to choose the conductive PET sheet. It is suitable for electronic components, precision instruments and other fields with extremely high requirements for electrostatic protection.

When you are sensitive to cost and do not have high requirements for conductivity, you can choose the surface-coated conductive PET sheet. It is suitable for some occasions with general requirements for electrostatic protection.

Containing conductive PET sheets and surface-coated conductive PET sheets each have their own advantages and disadvantages. The choice of which material needs to be considered comprehensively according to the specific application requirements. Containing conductive PET sheets have more lasting, stable and durable conductivity than surface-coated conductive PET sheets, and have more advantages in wear resistance, uniform distribution of conductivity and environmental protection. Especially in applications that need to maintain conductivity and wear resistance for a long time, containing conductive PET sheets is a better choice.

Other factors affecting the selection:

Conductivity requirements: What surface resistivity needs to be achieved?

  • Environmental conditions: Factors such as temperature and humidity in the working environment will affect the conductivity.
  • Processing technology: It is necessary to consider the processing performance of the material and whether it is suitable for existing production equipment.
  • Cost budget: Comprehensively consider factors such as material cost and processing cost.
